Braindump 30/04/09

Posted by garethwatkins on April 30, 2009

I wish I had the financial backing to even have ideas like this.

Listen to your elders.

This’ll make your head hurt.

What worries me is that this is real.

Google slipping through the back door to social networking.

See if you can work out the number of layers involved in this.

Well that’s breakfast sorted.

Fan fiction at it’s best.

This is genius.

I found a woman making a phonecall in a nightie.

This is almost enough to make me celebrate my next birthday.

Review: X-Men Origins: Woverine

Posted by garethwatkins on April 28, 2009

My first review of Wolverine is now up in the articles section. I may well amend or append this at a later date, but it’s up and ready to go.

Direct link.

Braindump 25/04/09

A collection of the stuff that interested me this week. Being insanely busy and riotously popular has lead to a decline in posts of late. I shall try to discourage my friends from requesting face time so much in future.

On the upside though, I hope to have a Wolverine review up late on Monday night. The proper film that is, not the FX-less leaked viersion.

Best crazy straw ever! And a great company name to boot.

I love these guys’ work. Great marketing.

Will the uses for the iPhone ever end?

I want to see this. A bit NSFW

Genius!

Pfft!

Want one.

Zombie poetry.

Remeber Zoids? Now imagine what they would be like in your nightmares.

Want one.

2 minutes of awesome. Watch it through once before stopping to watch the extra bits.

Easy animation. And an amusing url. Well, that’s me on side.

I’m slightly surprised the person who made this had the time to do so.

Because laughing at Sarkozy amuses me.

Braindump 16/04/09

Just three today. I fell cheap after yesterday.

Riot chic.

One man goes to all this trouble and the best I can manage is a pork sword joke.

This scares me. Not the music as such, but the reaction to the bass line.

Watch it once, then explain the story to me.

A rare moment of clarity from the government?

Come again? Ooh, sorry. I can’t believe this is commonplace enough to legislate against.

Is open sourcing a car really a sound idea?

I’m slightly surprised these aren’t being utilised more adundently.

Creepy book, although there’s something about her odd hobby I rather like.

I’m not sure why they’re doing it, but I’m glad they did.

Want one.

Never mind workouts, just some nice mixes.

All that time wasted actually learning how to play.

I might not like the guy, but he is mighty impressive when he wants to be.

A site I love is offering a free ebook (that’s not actually the easiest phrase to vocalise). Check it out.

Showing off, really, really well!

…otherwise distracted at the wheel…” What, like by a car with a 12 foot mast on it’s roof?

I’ve always been a bit of a t-shirt freak, so this would be great. Of course, I could just take a pair of shears to an ordinary notebook.

Could someone please forward this on to my hotel of choice in Manchester? And please add this note: “Your streaky bacon is awesome (please ensure there is some available next time), but your scrambled eggs are not prize winners.” Thanks

If you like your words, like me, and you have an iPhone, like me, then you’ll probably like this, like me. Best feature? Its audio pronounciation function. The perfect use of the new medium. And, if you’re actually 7, like me, you’ll be pleased to know that it swears!

This is what golfists do when practising. Well, the really good ones do.

Terminate yourself. Not hugely convincing, but vaguely amusing. Or, if you prefer, Trek yourself.

BBC news as it happens. I can’t say I’m entirely clear why.

It’s like speed dating. Just without the advantages of being able to see the person and massively reduced odds of bumping uglies with them.

Surely there are further improvements to be made.

This really shouldn’t have worked.

It’s like Twitter, the musical. I’m very tempted to come out of retirement from DJing and set something up on here.

I don’t really understand the Scoville scale in any great detail, but anything rated a million on any scale has to be bad, right? Just watch the video.

Firstly, I’m going to apologise. I feel I’ve not been providing enough of my own “content.” Rest assured, I am working on stuff. I’m working on a language related article. It’s just taking a little longer than some of my other stuff as it might be something I can relate to work, which requires a little more caution, clarity and consitency. I also had the pleasure today of receiving my Flip HD, which means I may start getting some video footage up here soon. How soon depends on how quickly I can get my head round the editing software I’ll need to use. I’m only trained on one kind at the moment.

Oooh, pwetty.

Just for the headline.

Brilliant phone filmed short with a message.

I want a go!

Braindump 03/04/09

Posted by garethwatkins on April 4, 2009

As you might be able to tell from yesterday’s hyper-dump, I got a good night’s sleep the night before. As an inevitable side effect, I didn’t get a good night’s sleep last night. It means that today I could hardly function, although the guys in my department seemed to prefer the more lethargic version of me. I was a tad fighty the day after the good sleep.

Basically, I could see the problems with everything. And what with feeling all alive I was ready to point them out and offer solutions. I was also more opinionated (almost imeasurably so) than usual. A situation I usually only find myself in after a long night with people I know will have a row with me and enjoy it as much as I do. The best for all concerned is the usual middle-ground version of me, who has had just enough sleep to temper the enthusiasm, but just shy of enough sleep to prevent me from violently airing concerns.

So it’s with that in mind that I hope you will accept my apologies for what is effectively a hypo-dump.

Look! A moron. This is the sort of idiot I was ranting about. He objects to the Street View cameras, then allows himself to be fimled outside his own house for national TV and one of the world’s most visited websites. Give him a moron fine (these will be explained at a later date). It’s also worth noting, all you potential burglars who now can’t use Street View to “case his joint,” that he gives away the exact location of his house (church access road, just off there) and lets you know that there is sufficient cover for a daylight break and enter (very high hedges).

Even more online learning. I’m liking this apparent online education drive. If I could just focus myself in the wasted hours of non-slumber I might be able to learn something useful.
